Team Name: The Ballers
Members: Tim Baumann, Chantelle Vogt, Robert Huss (me)
The roles I have taken so far in the group assignments were Recorder, both times. Responsibilities of the Recorder is to take down notes of what the group is saying or doing and making sure any thoughts are written as well. Basically making sure everything is "on paper". One thing I enjoy about being the Recorder is the fact that I can type it on the computer. Writing by hand really isnt my thing, but typing I can get done a lot faster and more conveinient. One thing I dont like is that sometimes ideas come out really fast and before I get them down, it slips my mind.
Challenges within our team would just have to be meeting times. It's difficult to find times to meet with our schedules.
Chantelle and Tim are really good at keeping up with stuff, I myself have troubles keeping track and need to be reminded. In the next 2 weeks we plan to get our information together and start writing the report for our presentation I believe.

October, Key Moments of Learning
1) EXCEL:
While in this class learning things about excel was apparent throughout. Coming in I did not have much experience using it even though it could have been used in previous classes taken in High School, the teachers always insisted that we did everything by hand. Now I know many things about excel that I didn't even know the program could do. It has not only helped me in this class, but helps me in my Stats class and future business classes I plan to take.
2) BEING A WORLD CITIZEN:
Never really thought about what it meant to be a citizen in the world. Actually right now it's hard to even think about it. When the thought first enters my mind all I can think of is just living here. I guess if I had to look into it more so than that I would say that things of importance would be something like, race, religion tolerance/acceptance. There isn't just one race on the planet and you have to be aware of the others around you. I guess that's what I would say.
3) BEING A COLLEGE STUDENT:
Being in college was a big transition for me. Not saying it was hard or difficult, but it was different. Being a new freshman I was nervous about classes, sports and making friends considering I was the only one from my High School to come to Edgewood. Juggling classes and athletics proved to be a tough challenge for me. I had a hard time trying to deal with what to do first. But of course the great professors here at Edgewood College are always there to help (yay). Now that the soccer season is done, I have a better idea what to look out for next year when managing my time. College is great and I'm defiantly satisfied with not being back in High School.

Online Voting
When it comest to online voting, I dont really have a preference to whether it should be used or not. Obviously there are pros and cons for it, but i dont believe that there is any argument that strongly outweighs the other. I personally don't use online voting just because of the way that I was brought up. For example, whenever my Mom or Dad went to vote, they would take me with them and every time they went to a booth and never online. Naturally I just think I should cast a physical vote.
Within the reading, one thing that really stuck out in my mind was when it was stated that online voting eliminates the risk of someone tampering with the ballot box. I'm no computer expert, but these days I would think it is just as easy or even easier to tamper with elections electronically as it is with physical votes. It also said that a virus could easily change a persons vote on the internet or on an electronic vote.
I guess I'm more against online voting than I am for it. But if the voter wants to take the risk of it, go for it.

Risks and Benefits: Choices being made on my behalf
This video brings to mind what is really happening these days with privacy. The question is, do we have any? The video is actually pretty creepy. The fact that she knows what they guy buys, the magazines subscribed to, the fact that he bought tickets to hawaii and books he checked out is weird. Even a place as simple as a pizza shop to know all of this is strange. Sure there are benefits to it, like address and phone number and name, which would make delivery much easier. But for a pizza shop to have the personal and private information about you is unnecessary. If getting information about someone is this easy, then things like ordering items online is a huge risk because of credit card numbers and other info as well. All in all, I think it's more dangerous than benefitial.

Is This the Way of the Future?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=87s08VYjuGQ&p=BD06B8770F0E25F8&playnext=1&index=2
The question is, "Is this the way of the future?". I personally think that this is just a load of B.S. I'm sorry for anyone who disagrees, I just have my own opinion. First off, having a fish swim over a keyboad and type a Press Release is just unrealistic. You even saw what what being typed on the computer. Complete jibberish. A fish cant think on its own and do office work. A goldfish has a memory span of 3 seconds. Is that good enough to run an office? I dont think so. Second of all, what is the cost of all of this technology being used? Some of it seems so obsolete to what we have now. They have a lever to push an "enter key". It is so much easier to have a human do work like this. Unless I see drastic improvement on what is being used in this video, I do not see anything like this being used in the future.

Technology in the Future
Going off of what I read in the PEW Internet report it's an easy assumption that technology is growing rapidly and taking over the lifestyles of many people all over the world in a variety of cultures and ages. It's hard to say exactly which form of technology will be used the most because each and everyday technology becomes better, faster and stronger. Gaming is huge. Many people look forward to the day where gaming reaches virtual reality quality in your own home. Internet use is probably at it's peak and the only improvement might be making it faster. Cell phone use would be my pick for the form of technology used most in the future. It's wireless, makes calls, surfs the web. A cell phone can do almost anything these days and its right there in front of you all the time and it can fit in your pocket. Cell phones can only get better from here. The drawback behind it is that many people will lose contact with the outside world by being consumed by all the technological advancements. I myself have a hard time staying off the computer even when there is basically nothing to do.

About Me
My name is Robert Huss. I currently attend Edgewood College in Madison, Wisconsin and am part of the class of 2014 "Class of Community". My intended major is Accounting with an undecided minor. I'm a goalkeeper on the men's soccer team at Edgewood as well. Before Edgewood I attended Germantown High School and played soccer there too where I lettered 3 times for varsity soccer sophomore through senior year. I have a dream of playing big in professional soccer in England. But reality is that probably will not happen. My favorite soccer club is Manchester United in England and also Real Madrid and Barcelona in Spain. My favorite soccer player is Cristiano Ronaldo who plays for Real Madrid and the Portugal international team. But if I had to choose a goalkeeper as a favorite player i would have to say Iker Casillas who also plays for Real Madrid but plays for Spain internationally who won this past World Cup. Out of all of the games in the World Cup I only missed 2. Needless to say I'm a soccer freak. I like to party and have a good time and pretty outgoing.
